First Six Hours

Right After The Whelp

Right After The Whelp

The first pup arrived at 3:12 A.M. early Tuesday morning on December 18th, 2012. And, the last one arrived at 8:47 A.M. They all weighed in between 13-15 oz, and they are darling! Chispa showed a few signs of getting ready. Her temperature had dropped to 98.8. She was a bit restless as she paced around the house. She started digging in the whelping “pool”. Then, she laid down next to me, and after ten minutes of stroking her head, I heard a couple little high-pitched screech. “Hum. What is that?” I asked myself. I tiredly turned on the light to check it out, and a puppy was half way out!

PUPPIES! Jeff! Mom! Hurry!

The second pup came more than an hour later. Then another couple were about 40 minutes a part. And, the last one was after an hour.

Chispa did an excellent job at cleaning them up, and caring for them. Maybe it was all of that vanilla ice cream!

Three girls. Two boys. One exhausted mamma. Three excited human beings.
