One of the greatest joys of my lifetime, besides spending time with Chispa’s pups as they grow up, has been standing alongside Chispa as she impacts the lives of hundreds of people. Patients, staff, and visitors at Tri-City Medical Center. Young children learning to read. Teens. The elderly. Students with special needs. She has had stare-downs with patients in behavioral rehab, winning them over as they reach out. She has laid alongside hospital patients, falling asleep as they caress her head. She has patiently listened to children read, encouraging them to continue. She leans forward, waiting for an invitation to kiss, capturing the hearts of many, including my own.
Today marks her 50th “official” visit as a pet therapy dog.

And, thank you Paula Ballweber at Tri-City Medical Center and Josie Gavieres of B.A.R.K. (Beach Animals Reading with Kids) for trusting us.
Jeff and I are grateful, and ever so blessed.
